The BeWell project is excited to announce the upcoming publication of two policy briefs exploring critical skills and competencies for the future of the health and care workforce in the European Union (EU).

The first brief examines core digital skills and competencies for the health and care workforce that can help equip health professionals with the tools they need to navigate an increasingly digital healthcare landscape.

From telemedicine to AI-powered diagnostics, digital transformation is reshaping healthcare delivery. This policy brief will highlight key strategies and explore available education and training initiatives in the EU that can enhance digital literacy, and ensure that health professionals can confidently leverage new technologies to improve patient care and working conditions. It also outlines some key new and emerging technical and support roles that will be needed in the health sector to aid the digital transition.

The second brief delves into core green skills and competencies for the health and care workforce, addressing the urgent need for the health and care sector to be able to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change.

With rising environmental challenges, healthcare professionals should be equipped to implement sustainable practices, reduce carbon footprints, and support climate-resilient healthcare systems. This brief will explore essential skills and competencies and available education and training initiatives, and suggest policy options to help foster a greener and more sustainable health care sector.

Both briefs provide insights for policymakers, educators, and other healthcare leaders, offering practical recommendations to future-proof the workforce. Stay tuned for their release and join us in shaping a health and care sector that is both digitally empowered and environmentally responsible.
