The European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies is a WHO-hosted partnership organisation that brings together different policy perspectives to identify what health systems and policies evidence Europe’s decision makers need. The Observatory then generates and shares the evidence in print, in person and on-line, acting as a knowledge broker and bridging the gap between academia and practice. The Observatory currently has four analytic priorities: economics of health and health systems; governance for better public health; organisational models, skill mix and financing for effective integrated care; and implementing organisational and technological innovation.
The Observatory is co-lead of Work Package 2 on BeWell, together with NIVEL. This work package will review and map existing health workforce skills initiatives and Open Education Resources in the EU, laying the foundation for other project activities. A network of country informants and a digital skills monitor will also be established to regularly report on skill-mix developments.
