The BeWell project addresses the need to prepare the health and care workforce for green and digital solutions introduced in the European health and care systems, to ensure they can respond to current and future challenges.

European countries have increasingly been recognising the importance of adopting green and digital solutions. The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the health challenges that Member States have been facing, and the pressures on health systems, but it has also provided an opportunity for European countries to accelerate their digital and green transitions via the mass adoption of digital solutions in a world requiring physical distancing.

Digital Skills Courses

The Data Analytics with R course presents how to implement and run the Machine Learning approaches shown in the previous course. They are implemented using the open-source platform R. The lessons contain examples of sample datasets, that students can follow step by step to reproduce what is shown and to apply the same approaches to their data.  

The Basics of Data Analytics course provides an introduction to machine learning techniques for processing various types of data, including medical datasets. Participants will explore key concepts in regression and classification to make predictions and identify patterns in data. The course also covers essential validation techniques to assess model performance and ensure reliability. Through practical examples and applications, students will gain hands-on experience in applying machine-learning approaches to real-world problems. 

The Clinical Databases course, the first in a three-part series on Big Data & Analytics for the health workforce, aims to enhance medical professionals’ skills in clinical databases, data extraction, and digital analysis to improve routine medical tasks and support data-driven decision-making.  

The “Introductory Training Programme on Cybersecurity for Healthcare Staff” is a 5-module course aimed at up-skilling healthcare workers, particularly nurses and administrative staff, on cybersecurity. Each module, lasting 45 minutes, covers topics such as cybersecurity threats, GDPR, password security, mobile device safety and incident response. The course includes videos, quizzes, reading materials, and reflection sessions. Suitable for EQF levels 3-5, it helps participants protect patient data and navigate modern security challenges in healthcare.  

This online course provides an introduction to the EU policy context on healthcare system digitalisation, and what it represents for frontline healthcare professionals, and offers an overview of the collaboration, training, and student education to digitalise the healthcare ecosystems in the EU.  

Explore the principles of the GDPR in healthcare, including data management, patient rights, secure data exchange, and the role of the Data Protection Officer. Case studies highlight best practices and consequences of non-compliance to enhance understanding of health data protection.  

The “Healthcare-ICT” course is a five-module program designed to upskill healthcare workers, especially medical technicians, in digital health systems. It covers Electronic Health Records (EHRs), the benefits of data digitization, and managing clinical data with RIS/PACS systems. The course also explores system architecture, data flow, and the technical aspects of implementation, including hardware, software, and required skills. 

This 6-module course aims to develop the knowledge and skills of health and care workers in Microsoft Office and Google Suite packages to use these tools in their daily work, through numerous practical exercises.  

This course emphasises the application of electronic health records to improve medical care, healthcare services, and health promotion and to empower people to know and manage their health.  

This module equips participants with essential problem-solving and digital teamwork skills for modern professional environments, especially healthcare. Participants will learn methodologies like Design Thinking, stakeholder analysis, and project management tools, vital for creating effective, lasting solutions.  

This course explores telemedicine and its applications across various health services, including prehospital and specialist care. Participants will learn about video technology, its practical use with patients, and key considerations like security, privacy, and service providers. The course also covers the role of telemedicine in innovation, sustainability, and healthcare collaboration, along with training for both patients and professionals in using telemedicine solutions. 

Discover how telemedicine revolutionises healthcare through televisits, teleconsultations, and telenursing. Learn practical applications such as remote patient monitoring and explore how technology enhances continuity of care, patient education, and clinical outcomes. This course covers key innovations, security considerations, and best practices for integrating telemedicine into modern healthcare services. 

Green Skills Courses

The course aims to provide an introduction to the EU policy context of planetary health, and what planetary health encompasses, and delve deeper into planetary health education and interdisciplinary collaboration. 

This course explores green skills and their role in making healthcare more sustainable. Participants will learn key concepts, including what green skills entail, their main topics, and practical applications. Through real-world examples of best practices, the course provides both theoretical knowledge and actionable solutions that can be integrated into daily healthcare operations to promote environmental responsibility. 

This course examines the integration of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the One-Health approach, highlighting the links between environmental health, sustainability, and planetary health. Participants will explore the impact of environmental contaminants on health and discover sustainable practices that promote well-being while protecting the planet. 

Explore the environmental impact of hospital pharmaceutical waste and discover effective mitigation strategies. This course delves into how urban health, healthy buildings, and next-generation hospital design reduce risks such as pollution and noise, promoting well-being, sustainability, and patient-centred healthcare innovation.  

New Emerging Occupational Profiles Courses

Learn the integration of 3D printing in healthcare, focusing on CAD modelling, segmentation, slicing, post-processing, and regulatory frameworks. This course outlines workflows for producing patient-specific models, implants, and medical devices using additive manufacturing techniques. 

The course “AI Considerations for General Practitioners” features three modules with short lessons blending video and interactive content. It covers AI basics, practical applications in general practice, and adoption challenges, equipping GPs to responsibly use AI in patient care. 

This course provides an overview of digital patient education, a modern approach that utilizes technology to enhance patient learning and engagement. Unlike traditional methods, it offers interactive, accessible, and personalized content through digital platforms such as apps, videos, and online resources. This shift improves health literacy, self-management, and overall patient outcomes.  

This course focuses on developing resilience for health operators, covering topics like stress management, critical thinking and communication to enhance personal well-being and professional performance in the healthcare system.  

This course emphasizes the importance of Regulation 2017/745 aiming to give students a basic understanding of this particular document regulating Medical Devices. It will help you to gain a basic knowledge of the subject and will facilitate the application of the regulation in your context. 

Explore how Extended Reality is transforming nursing and clinical workflows, enhancing patient care, training, and engagement. Gain practical insights into implementing XR ethically and safely, while preparing for the future of immersive healthcare. 

This course is about how healthcare organizations can think about logistics in a sustainable way. The course covers topics related to sustainability, logistics and supply chain management, and offers some theory and practical examples of how to make logistical processes more sustainable. It also contains lessons in change management and continuous improvement, because making processes more sustainable is a journey that demands people learn and do things differently from where they might be today.  

This course describes the fundamentals of radiological image processing and aims to improve the skills and competences of medical professionals and technical users in radiological image processing and data generationThe aim of this course is also to provide simple but powerful instruments for understanding basic concepts on organ and tissue visualization and extraction of quantitative information. The basic knowledge of new image processing tools will open the possibility of improving patient-specific clinical management and decisions based on real clinical data.
